Dakota tires
Howdy folks, I've got an 04 Dakota quad cab.... trying to find out just how big of a tire I can fit into my front wheel wells without any tinkering. I've got a set of 315/75/16 that I can get cheap... but I don't know if they'll fit. Any ideas? Thanks!

RE: Dakota tires
According to my calculations, those would be around 34.5" tall... The biggest you can put on a stock 4wd 97-04 is 32" as far as I know.

Wow. That's one fast reply. And thanks for saving me some time and $$! So you think I can fit a 32" tire on my Dakota without any modifications?

RE: Dakota tires
might need minor trimming depending how worn your front suspension is.

I just got the truck, it's been a LONG time since I've had one to play with... The stock tires are 265/70/16... giving them a total height of 30.6 inches.. if I do the math correctly.. and it looks like there's plenty of room for more... maybe a 285/75/16 ( 32.8") could squeeze in there? What kind of trimming am I in for? Just the plastic wheel well? Or the actual exterior fender area? I've got a sawzall, and I don't mind a little inside trimming, but I want to maintain the stock appearance of the exterior.

I wouldn't go more than 32"... fender lip might give a problem... then again might not.

RE: Dakota tires
i have a set of 265/70r16 goddyear MTR's on my 03 quad cab. i love them, they get me thru anything i can get into. they are a little pricey, and they rub just a touch on the front bumper. I turned up my torsion bars 3/4 of an inch and that fixed all my problems.
