Cool Automatic to 5 speed swap...
[/size]Hey guys im new to this site. I am fixing up my 1993 Dakota 4x4 and i want to swap a 5 speed manual in place of the automatic. I was up at the local u pull it this past weekend and came across an 89 dakota with a 5 speed and 4 wheel drive. So I took the pedals and the shifter out of it so far. My question is since my truck is a 93 and the truck at u pull it is an 89 will the transmission, bellhousing, rear crossmember and transfer case out of the 89 bolt in and work on my 93? I can get all of it pretty cheap im really hoping I can use it. I know trying to find a 4 wheel drive 5 speed dakota is pretty rare. Anybody let me know please I will greatly appriciate any information. Thanks, Ryan.

RE: Automatic to 5 speed swap...
It will all bolt in, but an '89 being a V6, will have V6-rated parts. IF you have a V8 in your truck, I'm pretty sure the trans in the '89 is NOT an NV3500 like your V8 should have. If you have a V6 in yours, then you shouldn't have issues.
